Discounts for disabled people and the people who care for them
Students get discount cards. So do many paid carers. Stephanie Jackson noticed that disabled people and unpaid family carers rarely get the same kind of recognition, so she started Blue Badgers, a UK membership that pairs savings with accessible days out. The organization built its app with AppPresser's app builder, and it lets members carry all of that in their pocket.

A founder's reason
Stephanie lives in Solihull in the West Midlands and is a mother of three. Her son Ben was born with an ultra rare genetic condition, and looking after him made clear how much unpaid carers do without thanks. She chose Ben's birthday as the launch date.
Who can join
- People eligible for a Blue Badge, the UK disabled parking permit
- People registered blind or severely sight impaired
- People who receive certain disability benefits
Every member can link up to two carers. A carer can be a relative, a friend or anyone else who helps.

Using the app day to day
Browsing offers. Savings cover shopping, travel, leisure, days out and accessibility products, sorted under headings such as Home, Clothing, Health and Beauty, Food and Drink, and Fun and Travel, as well as Shopping.
Planning an outing. A map shows nearby venues with offers. Members can filter by category or search a place name, which helps when choosing somewhere that suits their needs.
Staying in the loop. A search box finds any brand or offer, and personalized alerts announce new deals.
Everything else. The More tab holds FAQs, Latest News, Our Partners, About Us and Contact Us. After joining, members do not have to verify again inside the app.

Value on both sides
Members and their carers save money and find places that welcome them. Partner businesses reach a community that cares about accessibility and is ready to visit.

What other membership groups can learn
Carer access built into each membership turns a discount card into something a whole household uses. The offers, the map and the alerts give people a reason to open the app every week. AppPresser links the app to WordPress and handles the native side, which leaves the Blue Badgers team free to work with partners and members.
