A very large textbook, wherever a student goes
Nurse practitioner students lean on their Barkley textbook in lectures, on clinical rotations and in the weeks before boards. Carrying it everywhere is not realistic. Barkley eBooks, released in July 2025, puts the book on a phone where it can be searched, highlighted and annotated. Barkley and Associates built the app with AppPresser's app builder.

Who publishes the books
Barkley and Associates prepares nurse practitioners for certification and keeps working NPs current. Its catalog spans in person review courses, clinical updates, home study and continuing education in many specialties. Dr. Thomas W. Barkley, Jr., professor emeritus of nursing, leads the company and has taught board review since 1998. The textbooks are written to support those courses.

A student's first five minutes in the app
- Sign in once. The login is the same Barkley and Associates account used to buy the book, so purchased titles are already waiting.
- Pick a title. Each owned textbook appears with a large View button.
- Find a topic fast. The PDF reader offers page jumps, full text search and zoom.
- Mark it up. Highlights, typed notes and bookmarks are saved, and a side panel lists them for review.
- Get help. A tutorial walks through the reader, and the tab bar also links to company news and a contact screen.

Built on the store the company already had
Barkley sells through WordPress with WooCommerce, WooCommerce Memberships and Subscriptions, plus LearnDash for courses and Elementor for layout. Because AppPresser reads those same accounts, a book bought on the website unlocks inside the app with no extra step. The company built the app itself on the AppPresser platform.

Why it matters for education businesses
Paid content stays behind a login the learner already knows, and the material goes wherever the student goes. For a publisher whose readers are often on a hospital floor, that is the whole point.
