On October 12, 2026, xAI introduced The X Subscription, a single plan that brings together Grok, Grok Bot, Cursor and X Premium. xAI said it would roll out to everyone globally over the following few days. Here is what is in it and how it fits the businesses we work with.
What it is
Before this launch, the tools in this bundle were separate products with separate bills. The X Subscription combines them: Grok for chat, voice, image and video generation, Grok Bot for AI teammates that get work done, Cursor for coding and X Premium. xAI describes it as the first AI subscription that supports the full path from thinking and creating to building and sharing.
How it works
There are five tiers, priced per month:
- Free at $0
- Plus at $8
- Premium at $30
- Super at $100
- Ultra at $200
Higher tiers share one Grok usage pool across Grok and Cursor, and xAI says that pool gives at least twice the coding usage of comparable Cursor plans. Team plans add single sign on and admin controls. Existing subscribers can keep their current plans or switch to the new ones.
X Subscription tiers, shared usage and Grok Bot teammates explained
One plan for Grok, Grok Bot, Cursor and X Premium
Bringing Grok, Grok Bot, Cursor and X Premium under one plan means fewer vendors, fewer invoices and fewer logins for a client's team. For a small business, that makes AI tools easier to approve and manage. We help map who on the team needs which tool and set up accounts to match.
Five tiers from Free to Ultra
Tiers run from Free at $0 to Ultra at $200 per month. Many staff can do their work on Free or Plus, while developers and heavy users may need Super or Ultra. We recommend a starting tier per role and revisit it after a month of real usage, so the plan follows how the team actually works.
Shared Grok usage pool across Grok and Cursor
Higher tiers share one Grok usage pool across Grok and Cursor, and xAI says that pool gives at least twice the coding usage of comparable Cursor plans. For a client with in house developers, that can stretch a coding budget further. We help those teams set up Cursor alongside Grok so their usage draws from the same pool.
Grok Bot AI teammates
Grok Bot provides AI teammates that get work done, included in the plan. For a client, that can mean recurring operational work their staff would otherwise do by hand. We help define those tasks, connect the tools the teammate needs and set clear limits on what it is allowed to do.
Creation and publishing in one subscription
Grok covers chat, voice, image and video generation, and X Premium covers publishing on X, all in the same plan. For a client's marketing team, drafting a post, creating its image and publishing it can happen within one subscription. We set up brand guidelines and a review step so everything published still sounds like the client.
Team plans with SSO and admin controls
Team plans add single sign on and admin controls. For a client, that means staff log in with their company account and access can be removed the moment someone leaves. We set up the team plan and admin settings together with the client's IT contact.
Keep or switch for existing subscribers
Existing subscribers can keep their current plans or switch. For clients already paying for some of these tools separately, we compare current spending against the new tiers before recommending a change. Sometimes the switch saves money, and sometimes the current plan is still the better fit.
Putting the X Subscription to work for WordPress and app teams
For many of our clients, the value here is less about one feature and more about putting the right tools in front of the right people under one plan. Here is how we would use it:
- Custom WordPress teams: developers can use Cursor and Grok against the same usage pool for theme, plugin and integration work.
- AppPresser mobile apps: product owners can draft app content, images and release notes in Grok while developers handle builds in Cursor.
- Workflow automation: Grok Bot teammates can take on recurring operational tasks, with SSO and admin controls for team accounts.
- Customer support: support leads can use Grok and Grok Bot to draft replies, summarize tickets and keep help content current.
- Social media management: one plan covers content creation in Grok and publishing on X with X Premium.
We can help a client pick the right tier for each role, so nobody pays for Ultra when Plus covers what they need, and set up team accounts with the admin controls in place.
Our take
We work with every major AI provider and are glad to build around whatever a client already uses. We usually recommend Grok, and a single plan that covers chat, AI teammates, coding and publishing makes that recommendation simpler for teams that want fewer tools to manage.
