WordPress 7.1.3 security release

What shipped

WordPress 7.1.3 was released on October 6, 2026. This security and maintenance release includes 7 security fixes and 4 bug fixes, and the recommendation is to update your sites immediately. The official announcement lists these responsibly reported issues:

  • A stored XSS on the Comments administration page, exploitable through pending comments
  • A denial of service issue in the WP_Http::make_absolute_url() method
  • A second order SQL injection in the WordPress WXR export
  • A weakness that let author level users make posts sticky
  • Disclosure of comments on private and unpublished posts without logging in
  • An XSS issue in Imgur embeds
  • Forgeable parameters passed to a status and type hook that could lead to action name collisions

The security fixes were backported to all branches eligible for security fixes, back to 4.7 at the time of release.

What it means for you

Sites that moderate comments are the clearest beneficiaries. A pending comment is supposed to wait quietly for review, but this issue could let one run script when a moderator opened the Comments screen. Comments on private or unpublished posts could also be read without logging in, which matters for sites that use private posts for internal updates or client work. The denial of service weakness could be used to slow a site down or take it offline, and the sticky post fix keeps the decision about what stays pinned to the top of your blog with editors and administrators.

How we use it in WordPress builds

Teams that use the WordPress export tool for migrations or content backups should update before running another export, because the WXR injection could be triggered when stored data was later exported. On custom builds with plugins that react to post status changes, we retest those workflows, like notifications and integrations, on staging, since forged parameters could make the status and type hook fire under the wrong action name. We also open a few posts with Imgur embeds to make sure they still display correctly.

What it means for mobile apps

The release notes describe fixes to the WordPress site itself and list no app specific changes. For AppPresser apps that load content from your WordPress site, the patched site is what protects them, so the site update is the step that matters. After updating, we spot check the screens in your app that show posts and comments.

What to do next

Sites that support automatic background updates receive 7.1.3 on their own. You can also go to Dashboard, then Updates, and click Update Now. On our support and maintenance plans, we apply it after staging checks: we open the Comments screen and confirm moderation works, confirm comments on private posts are no longer visible to logged out visitors, check that export files still import cleanly and review your sticky posts. We then watch uptime monitoring after rolling it out.

WooCommerce 11.2 and 11.2.1

What shipped

WooCommerce 11.2.0 was released on October 7, 2026, with 642 pull requests from 93 contributors and a database update. Minimum requirements stay at WordPress 7.0 and PHP 7.4. Highlights:

  • With "Update existing products" enabled, the product CSV importer matches rows by GTIN, UPC, EAN or ISBN when no ID or SKU is present, checking ID first, then SKU, then the global unique ID. A non blank identifier that matches nothing skips the row, and a match with a different product type is refused. Import cleanup now removes only the placeholder products created by that import instead of running site wide orphan deletes.
  • The Additional Checkout Fields API supports date fields in the Checkout block, using the browser's native date picker. Developers can restrict choices with fixed limits or periods relative to today, such as delivery dates from tomorrow through the next 30 days, and those limits also apply in My Account forms.
  • Order withdrawal requests send configurable emails, managed under WooCommerce, Settings, Emails, and Product Image, Product Quantity, Product Filters and Chips blocks gain extra styling options such as borders, shadows, colors, sticky positioning and typography.
  • Security fixes: Cc and Bcc recipients can no longer be set on the Reset password, New account and Confirm email address emails; downloadable product authorization rejects malformed order and email credentials; shop managers can no longer edit users who also hold a role outside woocommerce_shop_manager_editable_roles; on multisite, importing Blueprints requires network super admin rights; and usage tracking checks that sensitive information is left out.

WooCommerce 11.2.1, a non security fix release, followed on October 9, 2026. It restores 11.1 behavior for stores that remove address fields from the classic checkout with filters, where 11.2.0 could block checkout, skip tax or hide shipping options, and it accepts Argentine postcodes without the province letter again, along with formats for El Salvador, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and the British Virgin Islands.

What it means for you

Store owners who receive supplier spreadsheets keyed on barcodes can now update products without mapping SKUs first. Florists, caterers and other stores that ask for a delivery or event date have often relied on a separate checkout plugin, and that field can now come from core. One caution: PublishPress Future versions 3.0.0 to 4.10.3 can cause a fatal error with WooCommerce 11.2 because they load an outdated copy of Action Scheduler. PublishPress fixed this in version 4.10.4, and WooCommerce advises updating PublishPress Future first.

How we use it in WordPress builds

In our WooCommerce development work, we build delivery date fields with the core API, test them on phones and desktops and confirm the date appears correctly in order emails and the admin. We run supplier files through the importer on staging, review skipped rows and refused type changes and only then import in production. Developers should also note that wc_get_orders() and wc_get_products() read date strings in the store's timezone, the experimental abandoned cart recovery and Agentic Checkout APIs are removed and the database update drops the wc_email_unsubscribes table, sequential coupons of equal priority apply in the order entered, and the Cart and Checkout blocks use a fixed 360px order summary column and a 920px two column breakpoint.

What it means for mobile apps

The release notes list no app specific changes. If your AppPresser app shows the WooCommerce checkout or My Account pages, we test the new date fields and the 11.2.1 classic checkout address fix inside the app before release, along with download links from older orders, since downloadable product authorization changed.

What to do next

Update PublishPress Future to 4.10.4 or later first if you use it, confirm scheduled content still publishes, then apply WooCommerce 11.2 and 11.2.1. Test a sample of download links from older orders and check that shop managers can still edit the customer accounts they handle. Also plan ahead, especially if your store is still on PHP 7.4 or 8.0: on September 29, 2026, WooCommerce announced that version 11.6, planned for February 2027, will require PHP 8.1 or newer and recommended PHP 8.3 or newer. Through our WordPress security and hosting service, we check each client's PHP version, test the store on PHP 8.3 in staging and schedule the hosting change well before then.

Claude Haiku 5.5 from Anthropic

What shipped

On October 7, 2026, Anthropic released Claude Haiku 5.5, which it calls the cheapest, fastest and most capable small model it has released. On average it costs around 75 percent less to run than Haiku 4.5. Details:

  • Model ID claude-haiku-5-5, available on all platforms, including Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure
  • Per million tokens: input at $0.10 for prompts up to 100k tokens and $0.50 above, output at $0.50 up to 100k and $2.50 above, cache reads at $0.01 up to 100k and $0.05 above
  • A 1M token context window and up to 128k output tokens, with adaptive thinking controlled by effort
  • The first Haiku model with an adjustable effort setting

Anthropic made other changes the same day: Sonnet 5.5 cache reads were halved to $0.10 per million tokens, Max and Team subscribers got a monthly API credit, and the Python and TypeScript SDKs added computer use and browser use support in beta.

What it means for you

Haiku 5.5 is designed for high volume, cost sensitive work such as summaries, classification and database queries, and as Anthropic's fastest model to date at standard speed, it suits work where a person is waiting, like live customer support. For a business, that means a support widget that replies without a noticeable delay, and AI applied to every post, comment or form submission instead of a sample.

How we use it in WordPress builds

On custom WordPress sites, we use it for bulk summaries, tagging and classification across large content libraries and for quick answers in on site search. We keep prompts under the 100k tier so the client pays the lower rate, and run the work as background jobs. In larger workflows, Haiku 5.5 pairs with Opus 5.5 and Sonnet 5.5 as a subagent: the larger model plans and checks the work while Haiku handles the many small steps, such as pulling a figure from each invoice.

What it means for mobile apps

In AppPresser mobile apps, Haiku 5.5 fits low latency in app assistants where speed is part of the experience. We would connect it to the client's help content and hand conversations to staff or a larger model when a question gets complex.

What to do next

If you already run an integration on an older Haiku model, check the migration guide first. It lists breaking changes, including no temperature, top_p or top_k sampling parameters, no response prefill and no budget_tokens. We audit existing calls, replace those patterns and retest before switching. Learn more about our Claude integration services.

ChatGPT Intelligent UI from OpenAI

What shipped

On October 7, 2026, OpenAI announced GPT-6 and Intelligent UI for everyone in ChatGPT. Instead of answering only in text, ChatGPT can respond with interactive graphics, buttons, forms, charts and tools. OpenAI says it is built on a native, streamable component library and a compiler, so the interface appears as the answer is generated. The rollout, as described by OpenAI:

  • October 7 for Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise users in the Chat tab
  • Free and Go users starting October 8
  • GPT-6 Sol powers paid tiers, and GPT-6 Luna powers Free and Go
  • The models in ChatGPT Work and Codex were unchanged by this release

OpenAI reports that GPT-6 Instant starts answering 44 percent sooner on web search questions, and noted that ChatGPT has 1.2 billion weekly users.

What it means for you

This is a consumer feature inside ChatGPT rather than a new API, but it changes what people expect from digital experiences. Next to interactive answers, a plain text FAQ or a static pricing page can start to feel dated. As more people get answers through ChatGPT search, it also matters that your own pages are clear, accurate and easy for AI tools to read.

How we use it in WordPress builds

On custom WordPress sites, we build interactive pieces, such as a cost estimator, a comparison table or a guided product finder, as custom blocks. When we build AI features into a site, we stream responses and show progress so visitors are not left watching a spinner. We also help with well structured content, clean headings and accurate structured data.

What it means for mobile apps

In AppPresser mobile apps, AI answers can use native components like charts and buttons rather than walls of text. For client integrations built on the API, the release required no code changes, and teams on ChatGPT Work and Codex had nothing to migrate.

What to do next

Review your key journeys, such as booking or requesting a quote, and make them as quick and guided as possible. Learn more about our ChatGPT and OpenAI integration services.

Grok Bot slide decks from xAI

What shipped

On October 7, 2026, Grok Bot version 0.68.1 let Bots build slide decks with you and deliver them as PowerPoint files or Google Slides. The changelog lists these changes in version 0.68.1:

  • Slide decks built with you, starting from sample slides you pick, delivered as PowerPoint files or Google Slides
  • Formatted emails from a draft card, so recipients see headings, bold text and lists
  • Searching the Gmail Spam folder and moving a message back to the inbox
  • A 1920 by 1200 screen on the Bot's computer, up from 1280 by 800
  • Faster actions on the Bot's computer, with quicker screenshots

Earlier, version 0.66.0 on October 2 made the primary Bot, marked with a star, spot work it can take off your plate and offer to handle it. Version 0.67.0 the same day renamed the Marketplace to Connect Apps.

What it means for you

Slide decks are one of the most common pieces of office work, and they usually take several rounds of back and forth. Choosing from sample slides turns a vague request into a quick choice, and the finished deck opens in whichever tool your team already uses, with no conversion step. Formatted emails make status updates and summaries easier for recipients to scan.

How we use it in WordPress builds

For custom WordPress clients, a Bot can turn a site analytics export into a monthly results deck. We load the client's template and brand rules first so the sample slides already match their style, and we set the default format per client, such as Google Slides for teams on Google Workspace.

What it means for mobile apps

For AppPresser mobile apps, a Bot can build a release review deck from app store data and notes. There is no change to the apps themselves.

What to do next

If your team spends time each month on decks or reports, try a Bot with your own slide template, and review the proactive primary Bot's offers in the first weeks to turn the good ones into routines. Learn more about our Grok Bot AI agent services.

Claude Managed Agents dynamic workflows from Anthropic

What shipped

On October 9, 2026, Anthropic added dynamic workflows to Claude Managed Agents as a beta feature. The agent writes a workflow for the task you describe and starts a workflow run, which the server executes in the background. A workflow can fan out many agents at the same time, pass results from one agent to the next, repeat steps until a review passes and handle an agent that fails. Key details from the docs:

  • Part of the Claude Managed Agents beta, which uses the managed-agents-2026-04-01 beta header, enabled in the agent's multiagent block with type multiagent_20261001 and workflows set to enabled
  • Runs report progress on the session's event stream through workflow_run events
  • Each agent in a run works in its own session thread, sharing the session's sandbox files
  • Up to 64 threads working at once in a run and 1,000 agents over a run's life
  • A default run lifetime of 24 hours and up to 10 open runs per session by default
  • No separate price for a run: tokens are billed at each model's normal rates and count toward the session budget

There is no approval step before a run starts, so the docs suggest telling the agent to describe its plan and wait for approval when that matters.

What it means for you

Some jobs are too large for one conversation, such as reviewing hundreds of documents or a quarter of support tickets. Dynamic workflows let those jobs run without a custom orchestration system built first, and because tokens are billed as usual, model choice per phase is the biggest cost lever.

How we use it in WordPress builds

On custom WordPress sites, we can run content audits across thousands of posts, checking each for outdated facts, broken structure or missing metadata, then combine findings into one report. We can surface workflow_run progress in a simple dashboard or a notice in wp-admin so the team sees when each phase starts and ends. Anything that writes to a live site or a customer record goes through a person first.

What it means for mobile apps

For AppPresser mobile apps, a workflow can review many app screens or content feeds in parallel before a release. There is no change to the apps themselves.

What to do next

If you have a large, repeatable job, describe it and size it to the defaults, including the 24 hour run lifetime, and split larger jobs into phases. We set budgets and approval steps up front so costs stay predictable. Learn more about our Claude integration services.

Grok Bot email addresses from xAI

What shipped

On October 11, 2026, Grok Bot version 0.70.2, which also bundles versions 0.69.0 through 0.70.1, let each Bot claim its own email address and receive mail there. The changelog lists these additions:

  • Bots can claim their own email address and receive mail there
  • Email a Bot sends from that address waits for your approval on a draft card
  • Bots can search X and read posts and profiles without you connecting an X account
  • Connectors that come with an app, such as Figma, Notion and Canva, can show it as an interactive card in the chat
  • Bots can pay with X Money or Stripe Link
  • QuickBooks Online is available to connect

The release also says that before an action it cannot undo, such as sending, posting, buying or deleting, a Bot checks your own messages for approval.

What it means for you

Vendors, forms and teammates can write to the Bot directly instead of to a person who forwards everything, while a person stays responsible for every message that leaves the company. A dedicated Bot address also keeps automated mail out of personal inboxes, and research on X can begin before you link a brand account.

How we use it in WordPress builds

On custom WordPress sites, site forms can send submissions to a Bot address for sorting before staff see them. Vendor invoices can be sent to a Bot address and matched against QuickBooks Online. We name each address for its job, such as invoices or intake, and set up forwarding rules with the client.

What it means for mobile apps

For AppPresser mobile apps, app store and crash report emails can go to a Bot that summarizes them. There is no change to the apps themselves.

What to do next

Decide which mail a Bot should own, keep every outgoing message behind the draft card approval and train the approver on what to check, such as names, amounts and attachments. For payments, set spending rules first and keep every purchase behind an approval step. Learn more about our Grok Bot AI agent services.

Grok Voice 3.0 from xAI

What shipped

On October 14, 2026, xAI announced Grok Voice 3.0, which it calls the world's most intelligent speech to speech model, with latency under one second. xAI reports that it ranks first on the Artificial Analysis Speech to Speech Index with a score of 86.9 and scores 97 percent on Full Duplex Bench. Details from the official release notes:

  • The model slug is grok-voice-3.0, used through the Speech to Speech API
  • The grok-voice-latest alias points to Grok Voice 3.0, so apps using the alias upgrade automatically
  • The API itself is unchanged
  • Pricing is $0.08 per minute, or $4.80 per hour, the same as Grok Voice 2.0
  • grok-voice-2.0 was deprecated with this release

Grok Voice powers millions of conversations a day across Tesla and SpaceX, and it also powers voice mode in Grok Bot. One example from the announcement: Starlink handles about 20,000 support calls a day with Grok Voice, and about 70 percent are resolved without a human.

What it means for you

For your callers, real time speech to speech under one second feels like a conversation rather than a phone menu. The realistic goal is handling routine calls well and passing the rest to staff with context. At a flat per minute price, cost scales directly with call time, which makes voice agents practical for small and mid sized organizations too.

How we use it in WordPress builds

On custom WordPress sites, we can add a voice assistant that answers questions about services, hours and policies using the site's own content, and voice agents that book appointments or take intake details and write them straight into WordPress or a CRM. We start by listing the calls a team answers most often and build the agent around those first.

What it means for mobile apps

In AppPresser mobile apps, Grok Voice 3.0 can power hands free voice features, such as asking for a schedule or an order status. For apps with an existing Grok voice integration, the API did not change, so the upgrade is a model setting and a round of testing.

What to do next

If your integration is pinned to grok-voice-2.0, move it to grok-voice-3.0 or grok-voice-latest. If it already runs on grok-voice-latest, the upgrade happened on its own, so test how the agent sounds and behaves. We decide with each client whether to follow the alias or pin a version and upgrade on a schedule. Learn more about our Grok integration services.
